SACQSP President Calls for Stronger Alignment Between Infrastructure Investment and Industrialisation

The President of the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP), Arthur Quphe, has reaffirmed the profession’s commitment to supporting South Africa’s industrial growth through infrastructure excellence and strategic cost leadership.

Speaking during the Manufacturing Indaba 2026, Quphe highlighted that manufacturing competitiveness cannot be achieved without investable infrastructure, sound governance, and professional cost management.

“Every successful manufacturing economy is built on quality infrastructure. Quantity Surveyors have a strategic responsibility to ensure that infrastructure is affordable, bankable, sustainable, and delivers maximum value to society,” said Quphe.

He further called for stronger collaboration between government, industry, academia and the built environment professions to accelerate infrastructure delivery, local manufacturing, skills development and economic growth.

Under SACQSP’s leadership, the Council continues to position the quantity surveying profession as a key enabler of South Africa’s infrastructure-led development agenda and long-term industrial competitiveness.
