Authorities rescues 47 Ethiopian nationals believed to be victims of human trafficking

Forty-Seven (47) Ethiopian nationals who are believed to be victims of human trafficking have been rescued in Buccleuch, Johannesburg. Authorities uncovered a significant number of victims who were in underwear only, some attempted to flee and others were locked up in rooms.
The conditions of the victims who were kept in captivity were dire. They were deprived of food, water, clothing, and healthcare.

Emergen
cy medical services were summoned to the scene to attend to the frail and vulnerable victims. The operational team was able to trace the Ethiopian men who had fled from the scene. The men were apprehended in Linbro Park and brought back to Linbro Park and brought back to the scene. Further intelligence obtained led to the identification of the human trafficking ring leader and his accomplice. They were arrested.
